凝心聚力迎接新学年——青岛为明学校国际部2020秋季开学典礼

青岛的夏天时而烈日炎炎，时而阴雨绵绵，但无论风雨都阻挡不了开学的步伐。周一早上的校园又恢复了往常的活力，"Morning Greeting"和朝阳一同准时出现在国际部门口。日复一日，年复一年，国际部老师们的morning greeting从未间断，总是在清晨入校的第一时间为同学们送去暖暖的问候。国际部外方学术主任和轮值中外方老师在国际楼前向同学们Say Hello，Good morning, Have a great day, Keep up the good work... 一句句问候和鼓励，为大家整理校服，让同学们在爱和关怀中开启一天学习生活。

国际部的开学典礼也随后在为明剧场正式召开。参加国际部开学典礼的有青岛为明学校雷丽霞校长，青岛为明学校副校长孙玉强，青岛为明学校国际部校长、美国索斯兰学校青岛校区校长赵丽娟，国际部外方学术主任Neil Kimmet、国际部德育主任张侃及国际部全体中外方老师及部分国际部学生家长。

典礼开始，大屏幕上播放了老师们提前给大家准备的欢迎视频，说不完的想念，终于与你们在校园相见。国际部校长Alice通过一系列的数据以及相关政策为到场的各位同学和家长朋友们解读了在当今环境下的留学趋势，并且详述了就读于国际部美高、澳高和英高项目对学生未来走向世界的升学之路有何益处。呼吁国际部的老师、同学和家长朋友们：凝心聚力、坚定初心，Just do it！

其后，国际部学术主任Neil用同学们感兴趣的例子告诉同学们，实现梦想的方式是不断奋斗，即使偶尔会疲惫、会迷茫，但只要坚定信念，笃定前行必定能够有所收获。接着，Neil向到场的各位同学和家长朋友们介绍了国际部的精英师资队伍。国际部的教师团队是一个既具有专业精神又充满活力的团队，在接下来的每一个学术日，他们都将常伴同学们左右，帮助每位同学取得更加优异的成绩。

今年代表新生演讲的同学是Coco Zhao赵欣悦，她在国际部夏令营和开学军训中表现突出，从国内课程体系很快融入国际学校氛围。开学典礼上，那个初来学校的稍显安静的她不见了。台上的她，自信、大方、用流利的英语与大家分享了这个夏天她与ISD的故事，相信她那耀眼的青春将在青岛为明学校国际部绽放！

目前就读于加州大学伯克利分校的杨介之学长也回到母校，和大家分享了他这一年以来在伯克利的见闻感受，在大学期间，他一直保持着各科A或A+的成绩，作为“成功留学且留学成功”的典范，他还鼓励同学们也能有朝一日去往自己的梦校。下面和大家分享一小段Stephen的演讲：

However, this year is also fruitful. In hard times, we do learn through experiencing life and some of the difficulties that come with it. Therefore, I would like to share some of my thoughts:

Among the divided views, we can discover the value of inclusion. The world is diverse. In a diverse community, we can have different and often broadly divergent reactions to, for example, expression in support of a particular ideology, or support of a specific action. Being inclusive does not necessarily require us to believe what others believe. Rather, being inclusive means, as Carol Christ, the chancellor of UC Berkeley, stated, “if a community is strong, respectful, and supportive, we, together, have created the necessary conditions to engage in ideas and actions of every sort.” This is a real inclusive community. In such places, “the people we meet and perspectives we are exposed to will stretch us both intellectually and, at times, emotionally… but we should better to open up, to listen actively, to allow the validity of our beliefs to be tested and challenged” while we build our personality and values, as well as our connections with people.

2020特别的经历也让我们有了不一样的成长。在此，我想分享一些我的体悟。

我们总能在多样的世界观中发现正向包容的力量。世界纷繁，每一个理想和为之付出的行动都值得被温暖、被支持。包容，不必妥协，不必盲从。UC伯克利校长Carol Christ说过，生活在一个足够强大、能够给予充分尊重和支持的社会中的人们，会给所有想法和行动创造施展的条件。这是所谓真正的包容社会。我们在精神和情感上互相启迪，我们敞开心扉，倾听所有，接受信仰被检验，被挑战。与此同时，我们保持开放的心态，塑造个性，呈现自己的价值观，与世界相连。

In addition, I know our Weiming community is resilient. Browsing through the Southlands WeChat account during the pandemic, I still saw the vitality of this community. In difficult times, no one stands apart from what we all experience. All of the difficulties tell us that to build such resilience deeply into our character is essential. Resilience does not mean that we never feel defeated, rather, it can mean that we can reflect on the status quo and turn the hindrance and obstacle into something that further encourages us, as Marcus Aurelius suggested, “ a hindrance to the action becomes an aid, and an obstacle on its path helps it on its way”.

在为明，我深刻感受到多元的校园文化和包容的氛围。疫情期间，翻看学校公众号，还是能回忆起这里的活力与精彩。没有人能够置身大环境之外，共克时艰，更能彰显一个人性格中深植的韧性与恢复能力。它不能使我们坚不可摧，却使我们学会反思，在坎坷中找到力量。像Marcus Aurelius建议的那样，将障碍变成方法论，在荆棘路上一往无前。

What’s more, going through this challenging time, I want to tell myself and all of you that, we should be confident of who we are. Each one of us is unique, equipped with our own characteristics, and a chance to shape Weiming and the world. Each one of us will bring to the Weiming community extraordinary intelligence, strength, passion, ambition, resilience, creativity, curiosity, and the willingness to think, to challenge, and to change. Each one of us will be thrilled to strengthen, energize, and to shape our school and possibly the world, even as they are shaping us.

我告诉我自己，也想告诉大家，要自信。独一无二的我们聚在一起让为明闪闪发亮，走出校园，我们即将改变世界。在青岛为明学校国际部，我们每个人都注入无限的智慧、力量、热情、理想和包容。我们时刻保持对这个世界的创造力、好奇心和思考，去挑战，去改变。我们是为明多元文化的创造者，为明让我们足够强大、充满斗志，为明给了我们改变世界的力量。

紧接着就是同学们期待已久的颁奖仪式了，本次颁奖仪式分别颁发来是青岛为明学校国际部的学术奖学金、最佳进步奖、学生领导力奖、美国索斯兰主校为GPA成绩在3.0以上的同学颁发的学术证书Certificates of Honors, High Honors, Principal's List以及澳高的月度进步之星奖，并且为由预备班顺利晋升到高中班的同学们颁发了晋级证书Certificate of Promotion。
